You are building two connected decks
The purple combat deck handles fights. The green exploration deck controls what you can do between fights: opening routes, gathering cards, preparing camps and changing the tools available to the combat deck. A strong run needs both decks to have a job.
- Combat deck: damage, status effects, weapons and recovery
- Explore deck: route access, camp safety, resources and card modification
Do not spend stamina just because you can
Exploration actions consume a limited stamina pool. A hands-on launch report describes getting stranded after digging and opening rewards too eagerly. Check the next door and route requirement before using optional actions.
Keep one damage plan easy to draw
Shroom and Gloom lets cards grow repeatedly. That makes concentrated upgrades unusually valuable: a small set of cards that share one plan is easier to draw and improve than a pile of unrelated rewards.
- Choose a dependable damage card or weapon
- Add effects that directly support it
- Keep enough healing to survive imperfect draws
- Skip rewards that dilute the plan
Eating replaces passive blocking
The official description emphasizes defeating, seasoning, cooking and eating fungal enemies to recover health. Plan damage and food together: a defeated enemy can be part of your sustain engine instead of only the end of a fight.
